Yay I finished both my black clutch bag and cropped blazer to wear to my dinner last night. So impressed!
I finished the black bag in one day with only one kidlet around. And I managed to get plenty of pics so I could put a "how-to" together. Here's a better pic of the finished product coz you can barely see it in the light above.

I lined it with denim from some old jeans becase it needed some structure and that's what i had lying around. But the denim added a lot of bulk to the side seams, in particular where the top of the bag folds over.
Here is the before pic of the blazer. You can see where i had put the pins for the curved look I was trying to create.
You can see in the next photo that the lining is pulling and creating a pucker (on the right hand side), so I'll have to let the lining out slightly in that spot. Otherwise I am completely happy with this refashion. And it only took 1 hour! Gotta love that.

Awesome blazer! I've been wanting to do something similar for ages but I am yet to find a suitable one in an op shop. Great work :)
ReplyDeleteI love the clutch! I saw it on the Wardrobe Refashion blog and am so inspired right now! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHi ChickyC! You look great in this outfit. Thanks for your comment about my leopard coat. When I say I put the lining in by machine, I meant that I pinned and stitched right around the front edge, neck edge and down the other front edge of the lining attaching it to the edge of my jacket facing. I had already hemmed the lining and jacket bottom separately, then are open at the bottom, but seeing as the lining is only a little shorter than the coat itself and the coat has a very wide hem, the lining covers any potential view of the wrong side of the coat fabric. Good luck with your jacket! I'm sure there are lots of tutorials and advice on Burdastyle and such places if the instructions you are going to follow aren't very helpful. All the best x
